Frequent Berkeley Daily Planet contributors, Jim Harris, Henry Norr, and Paul Larudee are members of ISM (International Solidarity Movement), a radical pro-Palestinian activist group.  ISM regards both violence and nonviolence as important tools of the Palestinian revolution, though it claims to be non-violent itself.  Even so, ISM regards violence as having the more important role to play, but that its non-violent tactics are a useful junior adjunct.  Harris and Larudee say so in passing, "ISM aims to support the Palestinian popular resistance."  Given that ISM was founded in 2001 at the height of the Palestinian suicide bombings, it is clear what they mean.  ISM's founders put it best when they wrote these chilling words:

"In actuality, nonviolence is not enough . . . [but it] is no less noble than carrying out a suicide operation. The Palestinian resistance must take on a variety of characteristics - both nonviolent and violent. But most importantly it must develop a strategy involving both aspects. No other successful nonviolent movement was able to achieve what it did without a concurrent violent movement."

ISM has been caught harboring a suicide bomber, and it has been filmed organizing worshippers at a West Bank mosque for violent protests.  It was also ISM that was responsible for sending Rachel Corrie to guard with her body a Hamas arms smuggling tunnel on the Gaza/Egypt border, where she met her death.
